I just heard about your blog in the CCL magazine - great job! I look forward to reading more.

Have you heard of this Chicago priest, Fr. Richard Simon? Here's the homily we all should have heard last Sunday for the 40th anniversary of H.V. http://www.fr-simon.com/2008/07-27-08--17th-Sunday-in-O-T.html

I wanted to share with you what I hope will be a helpful resource. The Bulletin: Philadelphia's Family Newspaper just ran a 12 page spread for the anniversary of Humanae Vitae exploring the myriad ways the ubiquity of contraception shapes our culture. I hope you'll find it interesting and heartening; we seem to share many of the same resources. I wish you luck with your blogging endeavor. Do remember, though, that this medium of quick blips and anonymous responses is much, much better suited to tearing things down than to building them up. The truth is an easy casualty under these circumstances. If you begin to feel discouraged in your mission, I would encourage to try a more civilized venue rather than give it up entirely.

Peace,
Emily

<blockquote>" ‘is responsible for deadening male libido in relation to real women, and leading men to see fewer and fewer women as ‘porn-worthy.’’ "</blockquote>

How true!

In the college dorms a decade ago (when a lot of us had high-speed internet for the first time with T1 lines) it was common for a guy to announce to his dormates "Guys you gotta see this one!" and proceed to show off a porno he had found...

Over the course of a year, a lot of fellas who had never had exposure to that sort of smut seemed to experience a transformation. Women were reduced to two categories: ones they'd use sexually and ones they wouldn't even bother with.

Girls in the latter category were not offended - they were dejected and often aspired to become the former.

Thoughts of marriage and children are nowhere to be found.
