So, you’re making the switch from bc to nfp? Congratulations! But before you toss your little compact of carcinogens, you’ll want to make sure you pack ‘em up safe and sound so that your pills don’t make a reappearance as a hormone-and-drinking-water-cocktail for humans or fish.

I’ve mentioned the Pill-polution dilemma before, but here’s the practical side of things thanks to the Fish & Wildlife Service and the American Pharmacist Association, aptly titled Smart Disposal (with the “r” in smart as the prescriptive “rx”–so clever). Check out the linkĀ above for a how to video, as well as posters, pamphlets and web banners. Spread the news!

Will this ever get media attention? Probably not…. :(

Well, it may not be on CNBC, CNN, or the View, but a few hundred or thousand people knowing about it is better than none, so start linking and emailing away…this is how things get to people!

Another idea would be to start a pharmacy call campaign to get pharmacies to carry this important information. Go get ‘em!

This is such an important aspect of the NFP issue, and I never even thought about it. Of course we need to dispose of those pills safely but that’s something that most people probably don’t think about with any prescription. Thanks for posting this!

Wish someone could use my pills. I cannot take them anymore. Hate to pay for them and have them go to waste. It’s not like I can advertise I have them and sell them though.

Be lucky that you can’t take them anymore…it’s a little compact of carcinogens and fertility suppressants–all supremely unhealthy for you or for anyone in a number of ways. Best wishes in your BC free journey!
