ThAT 5: Would You Use NFP?
Think Again Thursday Five: Would YOU use NFP?
Someone on the Yahoo Answers site has asked an open question: “Would you use NFP? Just curious because I went to one of those seminars put on by the Catholic Church.” My guess is that she’s talking about a engaged encounter seminar, but she could also mean she went to an intro talk on NFP as well.
Anyhow, the first commenter’s answer begins like this, “Hell no. The rhythm method is only 50% effective….” It’s only a matter of time before other under-educated and unaware commenter jumps on that bandwagon, so will you please jump in here, and give your two sense. (You can reference the ThAT 2 post for some suggestions or text). You’ll need a Yahoo ID, but it only takes a sec.
Also…have you checked out the other Think Again Thursday posts and taken action:
Reminder NFP Advocates
Have you taken action on the previous Think Again Thursdays? Most of the time I even provide the text, so it won’t even take that long. Bonus points for you if you pass the links onto friends and encourage NFP Activism (that’s you Batrice)! Here’s a recap as a reminder:
- ThAT 1: My Two Sense Blog’s erroneous take on NFP (she won’t publish your comment, it turns out, but drop a line any way!)
- ThAT 2: Mayo Clinic’s Online comparison lists some incorrect info on NFP
- ThAT 3: Cherie Blair, wife of former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair, declares in an interview, “I prefer something [birth control] that works.”
- ThAT 4: The Bump.com Pregnancy Web site has a forum question in which people raise some unfounded doubts about NFP

7 Habits of Highly Effective NFP Promoters

I responded, but my answer was so long that it cut me off. It also said that I had too many sources. Oops!
Yeah, that happens from time to time, so with new forums and online sites I’ve started to write my comments in a word doc so that in case something wonky happens when I submit my comment, I still have it to edit or submit again. Thanks for pitching in, Lauren!
Ah! I was able to edit the answer. Serves me right for being verbose. Thanks for the tips, Jess! It’s great to spread the word.
I posted, too. Just a short one but thanks for letting us know!
Good for you! Every little bit helps.
Follow up: Good job, everyone! She chose a positive answer, and I think all of the responses were very affirming! Yay, ThAT!
I second what Kat said! Well done everyone!
