March 19 is Father’s Day in Italy. Why March 19? Because it’s universally the feast of St. Joseph, patron of fathers. So, wish your beloved, your pastor ( a spiritual father) and men who are godfathers, mentor or work with youth (spiritual fathers) a happy father’s day, and send them this link to a previous entry on St. Joseph (includes a talk I’ve given).
(Note: It’s a solemnity in the Latin Rite of the Catholic Church, so you can ease off your Lenten fast a little March 19!)

St. Joseph rocks! I had an experience at a marriage retreat last year that really made me feel close to him, and I’ve never felt that way about a Saint before. We’ve already decided that the baby we’re expecting will have the middle name Joseph or Josephine (depending on the sex)
Until I read your post, I did not know that he was the patron saint of engineers (my profession)! And expectant mothers!
Way cool.

Great to hear some support for hidden and overlooked St. Joe! Wow, Dustin, how wonderful about giving Joseph(ine) a beautiful middle name…God willing, we’ll have a little one with Joseph as a namesake as well! I hope your St. Joseph’s day was delightful! John and I celebrated one of my very favorite saints with some vino and yummy dinner and desert, a welcome celebratory reprieve from our Lenten discipline in honor of our Church’s patron!

My husband Adam is coming into the Church this Easter and chose St. Joseph as his patron! I am a third order Carmelite and just learned that Joseph also is the protector of the Carmelite order! If we have a boy, I would love to have Joseph be part of his name too.
Adam and I went to confession for the first time together yesterday–we’ve prayed the Stations together recently for the first time. And, last night a portion of the Rosary together…even all four Gospel accounts of the Resurrection together! This growing spiritual unity is bringing us so much closer together in every area of our relationship! God is truly gracious!
I meant to say too, that our priest recommended the site dads.org. Just looking at it now, it is fantastic! And, it also is under the patronage of St. Joseph! Dustin, there is a lot of helpful marriage info. there!
